Androgenic agent, contains testosterone esters. Affects function of the external genitalia, prostate gland, seminal vesicles, as well as secondary sexual characteristics (voice, hair). Participates in the formation of body constitution and sexual behavior, activates libido and potency, stimulates spermatogenesis. It is an antagonist of female sex hormones - estrogens. It has an anabolic effect, which manifests itself in stimulating protein synthesis, delaying potassium, sulfur, phosphorus necessary for protein synthesis, enhancing calcium fixation in bones and increasing muscle mass, testosterone propionate have different rates of absorption and excretion, which ensures rapid development of the effect and long-term effect (up to 4 weeks) after a single administration.
Side effect

From the digestive system: nausea, cholestatic jaundice, increased levels of aminotransferases.

Other: edema, hypercalcemia, dizziness, thrombophlebitis.

Local reactions: pain at the injection site, redness and itching.

In women: phenomena of masculinization (virilism) - deepening of the voice, excess hair growth on the face and body, facial pastiness.

In men: priapism, increased sexual arousal, increased libido and frequent erections; gynecomastia.

In boys: premature puberty, premature closure of the epiphyses of the bones.

Indications for use of the drug

Replacement therapy for primary and secondary hypogonadism, eunuchoidism; impotence of endocrine origin, post-castration syndrome; male menopause; oligospermia; osteoporosis caused by androgen deficiency. Hormone-dependent tumors in women - breast cancer, as well as menopausal disorders in women (together with estrogens) and functional bleeding with hyperestrogenism; uterine fibroids.

Contraindications to the use of the drug

Prostate cancer, gynecomastia; impaired liver and kidney function; hypercalcemia, heart failure. Severe asthenia in patients, older age of men, puberty in boys.

If androgen-dependent side effects occur, treatment should be suspended until they disappear and then continued with reduced doses of the drug.
